The spatially resolved Diffuse Reflectance Spectroscopy Probe (DRSsr) developed at CEA-LETI could be a simple and non-invasive alternative for assessing the impact of new treatments on adult Onchocerca volvulus worms in subcutaneous nodules. : This probe has been used in a pre-clinical study conducted in Cameroon using a classical animal model of onchocerciasis, the Onchocerca ochengi/cattle model. It will be used on early spring 2018 on human studies in Cameroon that aim at validating the use of DRSsr, irrespective of the melanin concentration of the epidermal layer.

Such technology can be miniaturized and integrated in a compact and low cost probe like the wristband dedicated to Apnea detection with a direct connection by Bluetooth on your smartphone.
